Luxel were formed in August 2004 by Nigel Meek MIET who, after 20 years working in manufacturing and engineering, decided to take the big step of setting up his own enterprise. Originally developed as an electrical engineering specialist, Luxel have since expanded to draw on the proprietors experience in Production Engineering, Project Management, Design and Consultation. Nigel is a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (formally the IEE) and has formal qualifications in Engineering and Management.

Having witnessed at first hand the decline of the heavy industries in the south Wales valleys during the 1980’s we were lucky to become part of the overseas investment boom in the area during the 1990’s. We all thought that the prosperity arising from this investment would last a lifetime. How wrong we were. During this period local and national government did their utmost to woo these companies, unfortunately to the detriment of the home grown business.
Within a decade, having spent the millions of available grant aid, these multinational giants decided they needed to generate even more profit for themselves. They achieved this by streamlining their UK investments and taking their extensive manufacturing operations into central Europe and Asia leaving massive holes in the British economy. So much so that this, once great, nation of manufacturers has now become a second rate nation of service providers.
This recent history of ours has helped to forge the Luxel vision. Great Britain is famed for its inventiveness. However, all to often, these ideas often end up going nowhere or get taken over by the major players that pay little regard and remuneration to the creative individual. It is our aim to put the individual first, to help them to realise their goals by helping them to develop their ideas, inventions or products. We then aim to take these products and manufacture them at home so it proudly states “Designed and Manufactured in the UK” on the side of the box.
