Before moving on to the mass production stage it is important that a trial batch production, or pre-production run, is undertaken. This gives opportunity to evaluate the final tooling, manufacturing process and quality issues. It will also give you final quality product samples to aid with sales and marketing.

This production run may vary from a few dozen products to several hundred depending on the complexity and needs. But whatever the size of run it is vital that all issues are addressed at this stage otherwise any mistakes could have a huge financial impact if not resolved before moving on to mass production.

It is also at this stage that a final decision needs to be made on who will actually build the product. Will you set up your own factory for the final assembly operation, or will you pass it on to a sub-contractor. Or indeed will you just license the product and have no responsibility for the actual manufacture.

This decision may have already been reached by this stage but it is an important issue that needs to be carefully examined due to the investment implications and potential profit realisation. Throughout the project this area would have been assessed and we at Luxel would give you the best advice possible.
