A feasibility study enables you to save time and money by

• Quickly identifying if the product idea or invention will work

• Identifying costs for the following stages

• Defining a clear plan to deliver the product

Prior to product design it is often necessary to prove that a concept will work. There may be critical items that are required for the full function of the product which are unknown or untested. A feasibility study sets out to verify the critical factors in the product design and prove that these are achievable. The verification may just confirm that the required outcome is possible. The work may further determine that is it is possible at the required price point to ensure market viability. The following are examples of the potential work undertaken in a feasibility study:

• Identification of product and regulatory requirements

• Testing the function properties of materials and components to be used

• Identification of electronic components and proof of their function to specification

• Identification of manufacturing processes to be used

• Costing exercise for key components

• Costing for the product development cycle
